Airbase, headquartered in NYC, is seeking a Frontend Developer to join the Engineering team. You’ll build fast, data-heavy UIs for spectrum management, with a focus on performance and a rich UX.

You’ll collaborate with product and design to ship robust frontend features using TypeScript and React, implement state management for high-frequency data, and help modernize government and industrial workflows with scalable UI components.

Backed by a16z, we are a fast-moving, dual-use startup transforming wireless communication from a static, analog bottleneck into a dynamic, software-defined advantage.Today, the world's most advanced hardware - from satellite mega-constellations to Army UAS swarms and Electronic Warfare systems - is grounded by 20th-century paperwork. Spectrum coordination relies on fragmented databases, missing systems of record, and decades of static PDFs. Airbase is fixing this.We've built novel AI pipelines to digitize this analog bureaucracy and translate it into a software-defined, machine-readable data layer. We are transforming the spectrum from a static bottleneck into a dynamic advantage, delivering machine-speed tactical deconfliction for the military and automated licensing for commercial innovators.You’ll be the first dedicated frontend engineer. Your interfaces will be used by spectrum managers at NTIA and DoW, and by the companies launching the next generation of satellites.**What you'll do:*** **Work alongside operators in the field** - Airbase engineers sit in rooms with spectrum managers, regulators, and military operators. You'll hear the issue on Tuesday and ship the fix on Wednesday.* **Render dense, real-time RF data** - Build coverage maps, interference visualizations, and live streaming telemetry visualizations.* **Make regulatory workflows feel simple** - Licensing and deconfliction are complex, long-running multi-party processes. Turn them into seamless information architecture and interaction design an operator can move through in seconds.* **Build the frontend foundation** - Establish typed API contracts, state models, and agentic testing. Work with design to expand the component library.**You should have:*** **Product and design judgment** - You can ship a good interface without a spec or a finished mock, and you care how it feels.* **Performance instinct** - Comfortable profiling render and memory behavior, and holding frame budgets under sustained streaming load.* **Strong TypeScript and React** - Deep proficiency with React, including state management for high-frequency data and a real understanding of rendering and reconciliation behavior.**Nice to haves:*** **Geospatial and 3D** - experience rendering large datasets over maps and globes.* **RF or signals exposure** - Any exposure to spectrum, software-defined radios, or systems that stream telemetry.**You thrive on:*** Taking ownership and navigating shifting priorities in a fast-moving, high-impact environment.* Moving seamlessly between design and hands-on implementation.* Modernizing legacy government systems, helping space communicate with Earth, and building mission-critical infrastructure that endures.**Things you’ll say in your first month:*** “Woah, that software is from the 20th century”* “Hold on, these agencies use completely different units here?
