Job summary

RJC Group is seeking a data engineer to design, build, and maintain data pipelines that drive pricing, risk, and commercial decisions in the retail power book. You will collaborate with traders and origination teams to translate market and customer data into actionable outputs.

The role involves hands-on work with AWS, Python, and SQL to deliver scalable data solutions and support load forecasting, pricing, settlements, and reporting in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with AWS services (S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, EC2 or similar).
• Retail power experience is essential, from a retail energy provider, trading house, or utility.
• Solid SQL and data modelling skills.
• Comfortable working directly with front office stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Type: Contract-to-Hire

The Role

This is a highly technical, front-office-facing position. You'll design, build, and maintain the data pipelines and tooling that drive pricing, risk, and commercial decisions across the retail power book. You'll work closely with the business to turn market, customer, and operational data into reliable, usable outputs, often under tight timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines in Python on AWS
• Ingest, clean, and model market, load, and customer data to support retail power pricing and risk
• Work with traders and origination teams to deliver data solutions for large Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers
• Develop and support tools for load forecasting, pricing, settlements, and position reporting
• Ensure data quality, reliability, and performance across front office systems
• Collaborate with quant, risk, and technology teams on new initiatives and enhancements

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with AWS (e.g. S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, EC2 or similar)

Nice to Have
