Job summary

Healogics is seeking a Patient Navigator to support the front office and ensure smooth operation of our outpatient wound care center. The role focuses on scheduling, billing data entry, patient communication, and coordinating testing with hospital departments.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED, 2+ years of office experience (medical setting preferred) and strong Microsoft Office skills, with excellent writing and interpersonal abilities.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of office administration experience, preferably in a medical setting; prior medical coding preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors; answer and route calls to staff.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and send appointment reminders; coordinate provider schedules.
  • Obtain and verify patient insurance information; enter data in databases.
  • Enter patient charges; verify and reconcile charges; prepare monthly survey data.
  • Assemble and file patient charts; maintain data completeness and signatures.
  • Coordinate/schedule ancillary testing with hospital departments; arrange transportation as needed.

The Patient Navigator manages a variety of front office functions and is key to smooth operation of a dynamic outpatient wound care center as well as performs general office duties to assist the staff of the WCC.

All Healogics employees must perform their job responsibilities according to all Healogics policies, Hospital policies, as well as to accrediting organizations, federal and state regulation, and to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, as applicable.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities
  • Coordinates with Center leadership to maximize daily patient census.
  • Actively participates in staff meetings to support key functions within the Center.
  • Greets patients and other visitors, answers and routes calls to appropriate staff.
  • Maintains all patient communication needs including scheduling, rescheduling, and appointment reminders. Also works and schedules for provider, according to the care continuum model.
  • Obtains and verifies patient insurance information, to include pre-certifications and pre-authorizations for services and enters data in appropriate databases.
  • Collects and enters patient charges in databases.
  • Verifies and reconciles charges as directed, prepares monthly patient survey data and appropriate documentation, then transmits to providers.
  • Assembles new patient charts, maintains and files existing patient charts, and spot checks charts for data completeness and signatures.
  • Coordinates/schedules ancillary testing with other hospital departments.
  • Arranges for patient transportation as needed.
  • Maintains office equipment and supplies as needed, and medical supplies as directed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Required Education, Experience And Credentials
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED); Associate’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of Two (2) or more years office administration experience, preferably in a medical setting; Prior medical coding experience preferred
Preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Good customer, interpersonal and communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Organization and time-management skills
  • Ability to type 60 words per minute (wpm)
