Front Office Assistant/Registrar - Neurosurgery of W. AL

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage appointment schedules and complete administrative duties related to patient care.
  • Coordinate front office operations to ensure timely and accurate entry of patient information.
  • Greet patients, verify insurance, and obtain necessary information.
  • Answer phone calls, assist callers, and route calls appropriately.
  • Obtain prior authorizations and referrals to ensure proper reimbursement.
  • Organize and retrieve patient records, reports, and documents.
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and balances at the time of service.
  • Schedule appointments, exams, and surgeries, including obtaining authorizations.
  • Scan records into the EMR system.
  • Follow up with patients for missed appointments and communicate with referring providers.
  • Assist physicians with administrative tasks and manage office supplies within budget.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; healthcare experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate office equipment and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with interruptions.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with staff and patients.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Working Conditions:

Office setting with mostly sitting, some standing, reaching, and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds. Possible exposure to biological and chemical hazards. Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
