Job description

Front Office Assistant - Days - Over the Mountain Peds
  • Location: Birmingham, AL
  • Department: Over the Mountain Pediatrics
  • Schedule: Full-time, Day shift, 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday with rotating weekends

The Front Office Assistant is responsible for appointment scheduling, patient reception, and clerical support within the medical office. The role requires accuracy, friendliness, and efficiency in handling patient interactions and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Call and accompany patients from the waiting room to exam rooms, triage patients by obtaining brief histories and reasons for visits
  • Perform audiograms and visual exams as required
  • Collect urine specimens and perform strep tests, documenting all lab results
  • Prepare and sterilize medical instruments
  • Sanitize exam rooms between patients and after procedures involving body fluids
  • Complete forms related to immunizations, school, work, daycare, sports, WIC, etc.
  • Report supply needs to the supervisor
  • Manage patient flow, assist in coordinating movement between lab and x-ray
  • Perform peak flow measurements and graph results
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Experience
