Job description

FYI: This role is a hybrid BOH/FOH position focusing on FOH support on weekends and prep/sandwich/dough support on weekdays; weekend availability is a must! Three or four nine-hour shifts a week; ~6:30 AM start time; hours subject to change!

Job Role: General Support - Sandwich Station/Prep Person/Front of House

Job Summary: We are seeking an energetic and reliable individual with relevant Back of House and Front of House experience to join our team. This person will participate in daily sandwich making, station prep, station maintenance, and work as part of the team communicating and collaborating with front of house and other back of house staff.

Position Type: Part Time or Full Time depending on availability, approximately 27-36 hours/week; days and hours not completely set but likely Thursday through Sunday. FULL weekend availability is a must!

FRONT OF HOUSE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, take orders, provide recommendations, ensure prompt and accurate service, address inquiries professionally, and tailor experiences to customer tastes.
  • Order Management: Prepare and assemble bagel orders, coordinate with kitchen staff, and manage online and in-person orders efficiently.
  • Cash Handling: Process transactions accurately, handle various payment methods securely, and provide correct change and receipts.
  • Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep service areas clean and organized, restock supplies, and support end-of-shift cleaning.
  • Product Knowledge: Stay informed about menu items, ingredients, allergens, and make suitable recommendations.
  • Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with team members, support colleagues, and use downtime productively.
  • Additional Duties: Support back of house tasks as needed, cross-training being encouraged.

Qualifications: Previous customer service experience preferred; excellent communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; basic math skills; high school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform bending, kneeling, and reaching.

BACK OF HOUSE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Support sandwich station, manage multiple orders, and ensure quality and timely preparation.
  • Assist with food prep, including chopping, slicing, weighing, and light cooking.
  • Follow recipes for signature items like whitefish and egg salads.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of back-of-house areas.
  • Work closely with kitchen staff, communicate effectively, and respond quickly to needs.
  • Follow health and safety standards.
  • Prepare the station at opening and reset at closing, including cleaning and organizing tools and surfaces.
  • Assist with other kitchen tasks as needed, such as dough work and dishwashing.

Qualifications: Prior experience preferred; comfortable with fish products due to pescatarian environment; excellent time management; ability to handle multiple tasks independently; full-time availability required; strong attention to detail; physical ability to stand and lift as needed.
