The Restaurant Cashier may work in the capacity of Cashier, Expeditor, and/or Greeter. The Restaurant Cashier maintains a consistent customer service focus, always showing pride of ownership and a sense of urgency to delight the Guest. They enthusiastically greet Guests with a warm, genuine welcome and consistently follow the standard of service.
Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrating strong comprehension of the menu, including recipes, allergens, and dietary restrictions.
- Processing Guest orders in person or by telephone using the POS system, handling cash and credit/debit card transactions accurately while upholding register dialogue.
- Following all cash handling procedures, including fraud protection, and properly managing drawers as required.
- PRESENTING food to Guests, circulating the dining room for service opportunities, pre-bussing and bussing tables, and greeting Guests entering, waiting in line, or exiting the restaurant.
- Maintaining cleanliness of floors, buses, washing dishes, cleaning and restocking bathrooms, and wiping windows.
- Ensuring overall cleanliness of the restaurant.
- Processing Guest orders at the register, pouring beverages, answering menu questions, and keeping the front counter area clean and organized.
- Restocking the ice bin, drying clean tumblers and glassware.
- Communicating regularly with Guests and employees in other stations (BOH and FOH) to optimize service levels.
- Performing other tasks as assigned.
Skills and qualifications:
- Strong customer service personality and skills.
- Prior experience in a customer service or restaurant environment preferred.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality, with a positive attendance record.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Good communication, organization, and interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Current Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certificate.
Previous experience:
- At least 6 months experience as a Cashier in hospitality or retail; restaurant experience preferred.
