Job Title: Front of House Associate
Reports to: Ellie Watson, Guest Experience Manager
Pay Rate: $16.50/hour
Schedule: Part-time, Seasonal
Description: Front of House Associates are essential to creating a smooth, welcoming, and memorable experience for all CST guests. As the first point of contact for patrons, they play a key role in the flow of audience traffic before, during, and after performances – including walk-ins, late seating, and intermission. Responsibilities include greeting and assisting guests, distributing tickets from Will Call, scanning tickets, and answering patron questions. Associates also contribute to the nightly setup and breakdown of Front of House operations and lobby.
In addition to ushering and ticketing duties, Associates may be considered for positions in concessions and House Management support. Ideal candidates are friendly, dependable, customer-service oriented, and eager to gain hands‑on experience in a professional theater environment.
Central Square Theater is committed to diversity at all levels: on our stage, in our audience, on our staff, and within our leadership. CST is the oldest female‑led professional theater company in New England. We strongly encourage BIPOC and LGBTQ+ candidates to apply.
Team members will be cross‑trained in multiple areas – including Box Office, Ambassador, concessions, and house operations – to allow for flexible scheduling and to support all aspects of Front of House needs. This role requires adaptability, teamwork, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
Applicants must be willing to learn great customer service skills, the ability to maintain calm under pressure, and possess an appreciation for theatre. TIPS or SERVE SAFE certification is required for working Concessions, and will be provided if not possessed. Bystander Intervention and Harassment training will be provided.
This is a part time position. While flexibility is a guarantee, night and weekend availability is a necessity. All candidates are expected to attend our Front of House meetings and dress rehearsals that take place the Wednesday before an opening and supply a minimum of two‑three shifts per week of availability. We do also have the occasional student matinee, so please mention if you have weekday morning availability, specifically Tuesday‑Thursday.
