Job summary

Wellspring Philanthropic Fund in Washington, DC is seeking a Front-End Web Development Intern to support the Learning and Evaluation team in creating online reports, interactive visualizations, and web content.

You will improve design and functionality, develop CSS per style guides, and help translate ideas into polished products while gaining exposure to philanthropy and social justice. This internship runs January 14th–May 25th (flexible) with networking opportunities and professional growth.

Qualifications

• A portfolio demonstrating the ability to create attractive, functional websites.
• Some experience with D3 a plus.
• Familiarity with Bootstrap or similar framework.
• Knowledge of handling json or csv data in a front end environment.
• Knowledge of GitHub for managing collaborative coding projects.
• Familiarity with, or desire to learn, principles of data visualization a plus.
• A demonstrated interest in human rights/social justice.
• Self‑motivation, with an ability to work proactively, independently, and with a strong sense of urgency.
• Ability to shift gears comfortably, flex skills, and multi‑task effectively.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Strong project management skills, deadline management, sense of responsibility and accountability and the ability to effectively multi‑task
• Strong moral compass; personal ethics and integrity must be impeccable.
• Collaborative focus, recognizing the value in fostering an environment which promotes shared communications, efforts and results.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Responsibilities

• Improve the appearance and functionality of interactive web content, and develop new sites from scratch.
• Develop CSS that follows style guide.
• Brainstorm effective ways to convey information visually.
• Contribute to existing and new data visualization projects.
