Job description

Position Overview:

The Front End Maintainers work 12-hour shifts on a four-night, four-off schedule. They initiate the can making process and are responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of the cupping press, body makers, trimmers, and conveying systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Inspect, upend, and load coils onto the unwinder, feed coils through the lubricator, and into the press.
  2. Set up, maintain, and operate the upender, unwinder, lubricator, and cupping press.
  3. Set up, maintain, and operate the body makers, trimmers, and conveying systems.
  4. Inspect and monitor, then enter into the computer system the following can specifications:

- Flange wall thickness

- Mid-wall thickness

- Dome depth

- Trim can height

  1. Perform visual checks and cup weights to ensure process compliance and take appropriate measures.
  2. Assist in other areas as needed to maintain smooth can flow through the plant.
  3. Complete required paperwork and documentation such as coil logs and check sheets.
  4. Maintain cleanliness of all work areas and machines, and practice proper safety procedures.
  5. Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical components.
  • Ability to use precision measurement devices (e.g., calipers, micrometers, dial indicators).
  • Experience disassembling and reassembling machinery (preferred).
