About The Role

As a Front End Developer at Lateral, you will design and build high-quality digital experiences using React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript. You will work closely with a cross-functional team of designers, back-end developers, and product managers to deliver responsive, accessible, and polished user interfaces.

The role is remote-first, with flexibility for those near Lateral offices to collaborate in person as desired.

You will participate in architectural decisions, lead UI development efforts, optimize performance, and ensure a robust user experience through high standards of testing and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain responsive front-end features using React and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Create reusable UI components and ensure pixel-perfect, accessible, and performant interfaces.
• Collaborate with designers, product managers, and back-end developers in an asynchronous environment.
• Debug, profile, and enhance user experience across various devices and browsers.
• Participate in technical discussions and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Improve front-end code structure, tooling, and performance.
• Lead initiatives such as developing shared component libraries or introducing new standards.
• Ensure quality and scalability by writing tests and thorough documentation.
• Actively participate in the feedback and iteration process to improve both product and team practices.
  
  

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional front-end development experience building digital applications.
• Strong expertise in React, modern JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, and front-end tooling (e.g., npm, Webpack).
• Proven ability to deliver pixel-perfect, accessible, and responsive UI/UX.
• Experience building high-performance web applications that work reliably across browsers.
• Demonstrated commitment to testing, documentation, and long-term maintainability.
• Strong communication skills and empathy; able to collaborate effectively across teams and time zones.
• Self-motivated, disciplined, and accountable in a remote environment.
• Ability to proactively identify, propose, and lead technical solutions.
