Job summary

Brooklyn Arts Council is seeking an experienced Front-End Developer to design, develop, test, and maintain responsive web applications using Angular 19+ as part of an Agile Digital Delivery team.

You will collaborate with product owners, UX designers, engineers, and analysts to build scalable UI components, integrate with REST APIs, and deliver accessible, high-quality experiences, with a hybrid work arrangement in Vienna, VA. In-person interviews are required for this role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building dynamic, interactive web UIs.
• Hands-on Angular 19+ development experience.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Experience with Bootstrap or similar front-end styling frameworks.
• Experience creating accessible web solutions meeting WCAG 2.0.
• Experience with ARIA to develop accessible web experiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop new customer-facing features using Angular 19+ and modern web technologies.
• Build and maintain SPAs that consume REST APIs and web services.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Front-End Developer to support the development of modern, customer-facing digital experiences. This role will work as part of an Agile Digital Delivery team to design, develop, test, and maintain responsive web applications using Angular 19+ and modern front-end technologies.

The Front-End Developer will collaborate with product owners, UX designers, engineers, and analysts to build scalable and reusable user interface components, integrate with REST APIs, and deliver accessible, high-quality web experiences. This position requires strong hands-on Angular development experience and an understanding of modern software development, testing, accessibility, and front-end design practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop new customer-facing features for interactive web applications using Angular 19+ and modern web technologies.
• Develop and maintain Single Page Applications that integrate with APIs and RESTful web services.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, UX designers, engineers, and analysts to design and develop Angular-based web features.
• Develop reusable, scalable, extensible, and maintainable UI components.
• Utilize existing UI components and design patterns when developing or updating web features.
• Develop responsive web experiences across supported devices and screen sizes.
• Create accessible web experiences using semantic HTML, ARIA, and established accessibility standards.
• Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and testable JavaScript and TypeScript code.
• Develop and execute unit tests using Jest, Karma, or similar testing frameworks.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional development teams.
• Develop high-quality, production-ready code in short development increments.
• Identify and resolve application defects, performance bottlenecks, and other front-end issues.
• Support code quality, organization, testing, and development automation.
• Follow established Angular development standards, software architecture patterns, and front-end development best practices.
• Collaborate with other engineers to support application deployment and release activities.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing dynamic and highly interactive web user interfaces.
• Intermediate to advanced hands-on experience developing web applications using Angular 19+.
• Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Intermediate to advanced experience styling web applications using Bootstrap or comparable front-end styling frameworks.
• Experience creating accessible web solutions that meet WCAG 2.0 standards and guidelines.
• Experience using semantic HTML and ARIA to develop accessible web experiences.
• Experience with accessibility auditing, quality assurance tools, and accessibility testing processes.
• Experience developing reusable, self-contained, and testable UI components and modules.
• Experience developing Single Page Applications.
• Experience integrating front-end applications with APIs and RESTful web services.
• Experience writing unit tests using Jest, Karma, or comparable testing frameworks.
• Experience working within large enterprise codebases.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments and cross-functional teams.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, Azure DevOps Repos, or comparable version control tools.
• Understanding of software architecture patterns and SOLID principles.
• Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD).
• Experience with Nx workspace monorepos preferred.
• Experience with Storybook or comparable design systems and component libraries preferred.
• Experience with ng-Bootstrap preferred.
• Experience with Azure DevOps preferred.
• Experience developing customer-facing applications preferred.
• Experience with cloud environments such as Azure or AWS preferred.
