Job summary

Steampunk is seeking a Front-End Developer to collaborate with designers, product owners, and back-end teams on high-performance, accessible web applications. The role focuses on React/TypeScript, modern frameworks, and scalable front-end architectures in an Agile setting.

You will contribute to design, testing, and continuous improvement across the stack. You will mentor juniors, present solutions to stakeholders, and help drive best practices, accessibility, and robust CI/CD integration,

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of front-end development experience in Agile environments.
  • Strong CSS architecture and modern JavaScript expertize.
  • Experience with React, TypeScript, and WCAG-compliant UI.
  • CI/CD workflows and automated testing experience required.
  • Public Trust eligibility is a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize front-end components using React/TypeScript.
  • Translate wireframes into responsive, accessible web apps.
  • Integrate front-end with APIs and microservices for end-to-end functionality.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and code reviews.
  • Implement unit/integration tests with Jest/Cypress.
  • Ensure performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Support build/release management and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Document components and provide usage guidelines.
  • Mentor junior developers and promote best practices.
  • Present UI solutions and demos to stakeholders.
  • Provide continuous improvement recommendations.

Overview

As a Front-End Developer, you will collaborate with designers, product owners, and back-end developers to deliver intuitive, high-performance, and accessible web applications. We are looking for candidates with 3-5 years of experience building modern front-end solutions within Agile and DevSecOps environments. You will play a key role in shaping user experiences and implementing scalable, secure, and maintainable front-end architecture.

Contributions

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, and optimize front-end components and web interfaces using React/TypeScript (or similar modern frameworks).
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to translate wireframes and design mockups into responsive, accessible, and mobile-friendly web applications.
  • Integrate front-end components with APIs and microservices to ensure seamless end-to-end functionality.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and continuous integration processes.
  • Implement automated testing frameworks for unit and component testing (e.g., Jest, Cypress).
  • Troubleshoot performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility issues.
  • Support build/release management and continuous deployment practices using CI/CD pipelines.
  • Provide documentation for front-end components, shared libraries, and usage guidelines.
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to improving front-end development standards and best practices.
  • Present UI solutions and interactive demos to stakeholders.
  • Implement solutions and provide continuous improvement recommendations

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be able to obtain Public Trust
  • Master's degree and 1 year of relevant experience; OR
    • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience; OR
    • No degree and 8 years of relevant experience
  • Possesses at least one professional certification relevant to the technical service provided
  • 3 years of experience with modern front-end development using React, TypeScript, or similar frameworks (e.g., Angular, Vue).Strong understanding of CSS architecture, modern JavaScript (ES6+), and state management tools (Redux, Zustand, etc.).
  • Experience developing accessible and performant web interfaces following WCAG and responsive design principles.
  • 3 years of experience with CI/CD workflows using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
  • Experience with containerized development using Docker.
  • Proficiency with unit and integration testing frameworks.
  • Backend: Java, Spring Boot, Spring Security, JPA/Hibernate

  • Frontend: Angular and/or React

  • Database: SQL (PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, or similar RDBMS)

  • API Design: RESTful services

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting technical demonstrations or tech challenges
  • 3+ years of application development in an Agile environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript

  • Observability: OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, or Prometheus/Grafana

  • CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps

  • Cloud: AWS or Azure

Steampunk relies on several factors to determine salary, including but not limited to geographic location, contractual requirements, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience. The projected compensation range for this position is $85,000 to $170,000. The estimate displayed represents a typical annual salary range for this position.
