Job summary

ShopRite of Montgomery is seeking a dedicated Customer Service/Courtesy Clerk to deliver excellent customer service, accurately scan, price and bag products, and handle transactions in a fast-paced store environment. This role requires strong English skills, basic math, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.

Responsibilities include greeting customers, processing payments, answering inquiries, and maintaining a clean, safe front-end area.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand English.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to work with products without negative allergic reactions.
• Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Enter customer information into database for eligibility of Wakefern programs.
• Understand operation of cash register and follow cash handling procedures.
• Know the various types of products carried in the store.
• Sort and return items to stock with priority to refrigerated/perishable items.
• Handle damaged merchandise per company procedures.
• Perform price checks when needed.
• Issue refunds and process returns according to policy.
• Promote current charitable promotions to customers.
