The role emphasizes strong communication, basic math skills, and a willingness to learn about hardware and home improvement products. Availability on weekends, evenings, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior cashier experience is a plus but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Basic math and computer skills are required.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to learn about hardware and home improvement products.
• Must accurately handle money and maintain product knowledge.
• Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide a friendly experience at checkout.
• Operate cash registers and handle cash, credit, and debit transactions accurately.
• Issue receipts, refunds, and exchanges per store policies.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front-end area.
• Assist with stocking shelves near registers and monitor inventory levels.
• Answer basic product questions and direct customers to departments or staff.
• Report issues with registers, pricing or customer concerns to the supervisor.
• Follow safety and loss prevention procedures.
• Support the team with other duties as needed.
