Job summary

Boise Co-op is seeking a Front End associate to ensure accurate checkout and friendly customer service in a busy grocery setting. You will handle SKUs, quantities, and weights in the POS system while warmly engaging customers and promoting membership benefits.

The role requires the ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with emphasis on maintaining a neat front-end area and supporting self-checkout. Background check is required.

Qualifications

  • Must be 19 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Retail cashier experience is preferred, especially in grocery environments.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and efficient checkout by entering correct SKU, quantity, and weight information into the POS system.
  • Engage customers warmly and offer membership information during transactions.
  • Ask customers to Round Up for the monthly sponsored non-profit.
  • Follow cash handling and check receiving procedures to maintain till accuracy.
  • Assist customers at self-checkout and handle questions.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly Front End area including foyers and restrooms.
  • Balance customer service with stocking and light cleaning to keep operations smooth.

Do you love creating warm, positive customer experiences while keeping checkout operations running smoothly?Join our Front End team and help ensure accurate transactions, friendly service, and an efficient shopping environment that reflects the Co-op’s core values every day.Responsibilities and DutiesProvide accurate and efficient checkout by entering correct SKU, quantity, and weight information into the POS system.Engage customers warmly and offer membership information during transactions.Ask customers to Round Up for the monthly sponsored non-profit, reflecting our core values.Follow all cash handling and check receiving procedures to maintain till accuracy.Uphold state regulations concerning the sale of alcoholic beverages.Support customers at self-checkout stations and assist with questions.Manage challenging customer situations with calmness and professionalism, involving leadership when needed.Help maintain a clean and orderly Front End, including the foyer, cart areas, eating spaces, and restrooms.Balance customer service with tasks such as stocking and light cleaning to keep the department running smoothly.Qualifications and SkillsStrong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.Excellent communication abilities that create a welcoming customer experience.Ability to quickly learn and retain information, including common PLU codes.Calm, objective approach to resolving issues and responding under pressure.Must be able to successfully complete a background check.Efficient work habits suited to a fast-paced environment.Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.Education and ExperienceMust be 19 years of age or older.High school diploma or equivalent.Retail cashier or customer service experience preferred, especially in a grocery environment.Physical DemandsThis position requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a grocery store setting, including standing or sitting for prolonged periods, occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Repetitive hand and arm movements, use of step stools or ladders, and proper PPE when using appliances and equipment are required.Working EnvironmentWork is performed primarily in a busy grocery store setting, with frequent customer interaction and regular interruptions.
