Job summary

Kroger is hiring at the Dayton, OH location to join our store operations team as a Bagging/Courtesy Clerk. You will greet customers, assist with purchases, and operate the checkout efficiently while following store policies and safety guidelines.

The role supports a busy, member-focused customer experience. You will handle various payment methods, manage coupons, and help maintain a clean, welcoming environment for shoppers.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process transactions quickly and accurately at the checkout.
• Understand the POS system and handle tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, loyalty offers, coupons).
• Follow policies on cash shortages, loss prevention, and restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies and adhere to coupons and postage/gift card policies.
• Stay current with ads and promotions; maintain food safety and store safety procedures.
• Provide product information and assist customers to create a welcoming environment.
