Job summary

Sea Fox Boats is seeking a Front Door Quality Control Technician to join our production team. The Front Door is the final quality-control station, performing a thorough inspection of completed boats to ensure workmanship, functionality, appearance, and overall quality before the boat leaves production.

The ideal candidate has marine manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to identify and correct quality issues throughout a completed boat,

Qualifications

  • Experience in marine manufacturing or boat-building
  • Experience in quality control or final inspection
  • Strong knowledge of boat construction and production processes
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to identify defects and issues in a completed boat
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, diagrams, and production specs
  • Ability to communicate quality concerns clearly and professionally

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive final quality inspections of completed boats before they leave the production process
  • Inspect the entire boat for workmanship, fit, finish, functionality, cleanliness, and overall quality
  • Identify incomplete work, defects, damage, installation issues, missing components, and other quality concerns
  • Inspect interior and exterior components to ensure proper installation, alignment, and functioning
  • Check hardware, fittings, doors, hatches, seating, upholstery, consoles, electrical components, plumbing, rigging, and other boat systems
  • Test components and systems to verify proper operation and identify issues
  • Inspect fiberglass, gel coat, paint, trim, hardware, and finished surfaces for defects
  • Verify required components and accessories are present and properly installed
  • Identify cosmetic and functional issues that do not meet Sea Fox standards
  • Communicate punch-list items requiring correction before release from production
  • Make minor adjustments or corrections within scope
  • Communicate quality concerns to production leadership
  • Reinspect corrections to verify resolution
  • Help identify recurring quality issues and trends
  • Follow inspection procedures and safety standards
  • Maintain quality-control documentation
  • Safely operate hand/power tools and testing equipment
  • Maintain organized work area and safety compliance
  • Collaborate with production team to resolve issues
  • Take ownership of final boat quality to meet Sea Fox standards

Sea Fox Boats is seeking an experienced Front Door Quality Control Technician to join our production team. The Front Door is the final quality-control station in the boat-building process. This position is responsible for conducting a thorough final inspection of completed boats to ensure workmanship, functionality, appearance, and overall quality meet Sea Fox standards before the boat moves out of production.

The ideal candidate has marine manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to identify and correct quality issues throughout a completed boat. This position plays a critical role in ensuring customers receive a finished boat that meets Sea Fox quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive final quality inspections of completed boats before they leave the production process
  • Inspect the entire boat for workmanship, fit, finish, functionality, cleanliness, and overall quality
  • Identify incomplete work, defects, damage, installation issues, missing components, and other quality concerns
  • Inspect interior and exterior components to ensure they are properly installed, secure, aligned, and functioning correctly
  • Check hardware, fittings, doors, hatches, seating, upholstery, consoles, electrical components, plumbing, rigging, and other boat systems as applicable
  • Test components and systems to verify proper operation and identify potential issues
  • Inspect fiberglass, gel coat, paint, trim, hardware, and finished surfaces for defects or damage
  • Verify that required components and accessories are present and properly installed
  • Identify cosmetic and functional issues that do not meet Sea Fox quality standards
  • Complete or communicate punch-list items requiring correction before the boat is released from production
  • Perform minor adjustments or corrections when appropriate and within the scope of the position
  • Clearly communicate quality concerns and required corrections to production leadership and appropriate departments
  • Reinspect completed corrections to verify that issues have been properly resolved
  • Help identify recurring quality issues and communicate trends or concerns to leadership
  • Follow established inspection procedures, work instructions, and quality standards
  • Maintain accurate and organized quality-control documentation as required
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and other equipment necessary to perform inspections and corrections
  • Maintain an organized work area and follow all safety requirements
  • Work with production team members to resolve quality issues and help maintain an efficient production flow
  • Take ownership of final boat quality and help ensure every boat leaving production meets Sea Fox standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in marine manufacturing, boat building, boat assembly, or a similar marine production environment is required
  • Previous experience in quality control, final inspection, production, assembly, or a related position is required
  • Strong knowledge of boat construction, assembly, and production processes
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to inspect an entire completed boat and identify both cosmetic and functional issues
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, diagrams, and production specifications
  • Ability to identify defects, inconsistencies, missing components, and incomplete work
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and testing equipment safely and effectively
  • Ability to communicate quality concerns clearly and professionally
  • Ability to prioritize and track multiple quality issues through completion
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a production team
  • Dependable attendance and ability to meet production schedules
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a marine manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, fiberglass materials, and varying temperatures
  • Must be comfortable working inside, outside, and around completed boats during final inspection
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements required for inspection and correction tasks
  • Must follow required safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
