In This Role You Will
Be responsible for ensuring all aspects of the check-in & check-out process are handled in an organized and efficient manner, including collecting co-pays and patient balances, obtaining credit card on file agreements, and preparing paperwork at the start and end of the clinic days to facilitate smooth patient flow while providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the office/zone is prepared to receive patients by turning on lights, unlocking front doors, and placing sign-in sheets on the front desk.
- Greet patients upon arrival, introduce yourself, and welcome new patients.
- Inform patients of any delays or wait times.
- Provide patients with the intake tablet and instructions, assisting those who have difficulty using it.
- Ensure patients complete all required intake information.
- Verify that patients' photo IDs and insurance cards match Athena account data; scan new insurance cards and notify the Benefit Department of any changes.
- Verify valid authorizations are present in Athena.
- Ensure insurance benefits have been verified within the past 90 days.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance, and outstanding balances.
- Inform patients about the credit card on file process and obtain signed agreements.
- Begin the check-in process in Athena.
- Print financial agreements or advanced beneficiary notices and obtain patient signatures.
- Upload outside patient imaging CDs into Medview PACs system.
- Prepare all paperwork for the next day's clinic.
- Schedule follow-up appointments.
- Complete end-of-day batches and process any disability form payments.
- Scan daily batches into the Z drive and forward documents to Patient Records.
- Ensure clinics run smoothly by reporting issues to the Zone Lead or Supervisor.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
About You
- High School Diploma
- 2 years of experience in a medical environment
- Intermediate data entry skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Organized and able to multitask
We'd Love It If You Also Had
- 2 years of experience in Orthopedics
- Athena EMR experience
- Spanish bilingual skills (a plus!)
