Job description

Registration & Transportation Supervisor – Full Time, Exempt

Work Hours: Weekdays 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Location: Indian Health Board of Minneapolis, Federally Qualified Health Care Center and community clinic.

Job Summary

Facilitate registration with patient flow and provide transportation to and from the IHB clinics while directing staff to deliver good customer service.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the registration and transportation departments.
  • Manage staff development, performance reviews, scheduling, training and related personnel tasks.
  • Ensure accurate demographic and billing information in computer records and patient charts.
  • Verify insurance accurately.
  • Provide backup coverage for registration and transportation.
  • Maintain accurate schedules for all departments in Epic.
  • Maintain accurate cash receipts.
  • Develop and implement registration workflows.
  • Lead implementation and maintenance of the electronic health system.
  • Lead quality improvement activities within the department.
  • Resolve patient and provider concerns.
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance is performed.
  • Annually review and update policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with other departments regarding registration/transportation.
  • Train staff on current procedures and policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge and respect for people of diverse cultures.
  • Knowledge of metro freeway and street systems, preventive auto maintenance, community resources, and agencies.
  • Ability to use initiative, work as part of a team, and interact with people of varying ages and backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills in a busy environment with deadlines and constraints.
Qualifications
  • 2-year degree or higher.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with electronic health records, preferably EPIC.
  • Preferable supervisory experience.
  • Valid Minnesota driver’s license with no moving violations in the past 36 months.
  • Experience working with Native American communities.
  • Process improvement experience.
HIPAA

IHB limits access to protected health information to the minimum necessary for assigned duties. This position is limited to PHI needed to carry out health care operations.

Physical Demands

Central Registration: Sedentary work with some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, and driving a vehicle.

Transportation: Physical exertion including prolonged standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, reaching, and lifting children up to 50 pounds. The role involves exposure to potentially dangerous situations and requires safety precautions.
