Job description

Night Auditor / Overnight Front Desk Associate

My Place Hotel - Huntersville, NC
Shift: 11:00 PM-7:00 AM
Expected long-term schedule: 3-4 shifts per week

Position Summary

My Place Hotel Huntersville is looking for a dependable, professional, and detail-oriented Night Auditor to join our team. This position is responsible for assisting guests, completing nightly financial audits, maintaining clean and welcoming public areas, and supporting safe and smooth hotel operations overnight.

The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, is comfortable working independently, and can stay organized and attentive throughout the overnight shift.

Schedule and Availability

Flexibility with the days worked is required. Scheduling may vary initially during training and while regular shifts are being established. Over time, the position is expected to transition to a consistent schedule of three to four overnight shifts per week, with specific days determined by hotel needs.

All regular overnight shifts run from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Weekend and holiday shifts may be required. Punctuality, reliable attendance, and timely communication about availability are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Guest service and front desk operations: Welcome guests, process check-ins and check-outs, make and update reservations, answer telephone calls, and respond to guest questions and requests. Handle concerns professionally and refer issues to management when necessary.

  • Night audit and financial accuracy: Complete the nightly audit according to hotel procedures. Review guest accounts, verify room charges, taxes, purchases, and other applicable fees, reconcile cash and credit card transactions, and prepare accurate daily reports for management.

  • Payment handling and recordkeeping: Process payments and credit card authorizations, maintain accurate guest and reservation records, balance the cash drawer, and complete required shift paperwork. Protect guest information and follow hotel payment-handling procedures.

  • Overnight safety and security: Conduct property checks as directed, monitor entrances and public areas, follow key-control procedures, and promptly report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or unusual activity. Follow hotel emergency procedures and contact management or emergency services when appropriate.

  • Cleaning and upkeep: Keep the front desk, lobby, public restrooms, coffee station, and other assigned areas clean, organized, and stocked. Tasks may include wiping surfaces, vacuuming, mopping, emptying trash, cleaning glass doors, and preparing fresh coffee.

  • Laundry and housekeeping support: Wash, dry, fold, and properly store hotel linens and towels. Keep the laundry area clean and organized, deliver guest supplies as needed, and assist with occasional guest-room cleaning when operationally necessary.

  • Shift communication and handover: Review the front desk log at the start of each shift. Clearly document guest concerns, maintenance requests, payment discrepancies, incidents, and unfinished tasks. Provide a thorough handover to the morning shift.

  • Hotel knowledge and teamwork: Maintain familiarity with room types, rates, hotel policies, amenities, loyalty programs, and nearby services. Treat guests and coworkers respectfully, follow management instructions, complete assigned checklists, and perform other related duties as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong customer service skills and clear verbal and written communication.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn the hotel's property management system.
  • Strong attention to detail, basic math skills, and the ability to handle payments and review financial records accurately.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and remain awake, alert, and attentive throughout the overnight shift.
  • Dependable attendance, professional conduct, and flexibility with scheduled workdays.

Previous hotel front desk, night audit, or customer service experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This role involves standing, walking, bending, reaching, using stairs when needed, and moving laundry or supplies weighing up to approximately 30 pounds. Essential duties must be performed safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.

The Night Auditor must be comfortable working overnight, responding appropriately to unexpected situations, and completing both front desk and hands-on cleaning or laundry responsibilities.

Safety and Hotel Policies

Employees are expected to follow all hotel safety, security, confidentiality, cash-handling, and timekeeping procedures. All time worked must be accurately recorded, and safety concerns or incidents must be reported promptly to management.
