Our police officers serve as the face of the SF Fed, both as frontline defenders in our five locations and ambassadors in the communities we serve. The mission of the Twelfth District Police Services is to provide a safe and secure environment for people at the Federal Reserve Bank while also safeguarding the Federal Reserve Bank facilities, operations, and assets.

Position: FRLEO - Police Officer (San Francisco) (Security)

All Federal Reserve Police Officers are Federally Sworn Law Enforcement Officers and are expected to uphold that responsibility accordingly. Our team members are high-quality individuals seeking a role beyond typical law enforcement. Being a protector of the Federal Reserve involves a force protection posture, teamwork, leadership, and adaptability. We welcome both seasoned veterans and newcomers, offering growth opportunities in Police Services.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Monitor metal detectors, use hand-held detection wands, and operate x-ray machines to scan visitors and packages.
  • Control access for persons and vehicles beyond public areas, including parking structures and security zones, while monitoring surveillance and communication equipment.
  • Operate law enforcement and emergency equipment, including firearms, rescue, medical, and firefighting gear.
  • Patrol the premises, report unusual activities, and safeguard sensitive data and valuables.
  • Respond to alarms, fires, and threats, establishing law enforcement presence and securing the building.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 21 years old
  • Valid State Driver's License
  • No felony convictions or recent criminal record
  • No domestic violence convictions affecting firearm rights
  • Physical strength, stamina, agility, and balance
  • Ability to lift 25-50 lbs regularly, up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to work outdoors and handle law enforcement equipment
Additional Requirements:
  • Pass physical, psychological, background, and drug screening
  • Complete a six-week Basic Law Enforcement course and Field Training
  • Potential waitlist of up to 6 months or more due to vacancy fluctuations
Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range: $84,300 - $86,850 annually for San Francisco. Final salary determined by experience and qualifications.

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, paid leave, holidays, pet insurance, 401(k), and pension.
