• 15+ years in enterprise networking, network architecture, or cloud platform engineering.

• Hands-on with software-defined networking, IaC, and deployment pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Define the global network architecture and technical roadmap aligned with business objectives.
• Architect the move from hardware-centric to software-defined and cloud-native networking.
• Evaluate flat fabrics and multipath routing to remove bottlenecks and single points of failure.
• Design, prototype, and drive infrastructure-as-code, network automation, and continuous deployment.
• Establish patterns for safe, rapid change with automated validation and canary rollouts.
• Design self-healing, fault-tolerant architectures with fault-domain isolation and resilience engineering.
• Validate designs via modeling, large-scale simulation, failure testing, and digital twins.
• Own end-to-end architecture across AWS, public/private cloud, data centers, and global connectivity.
• Partner with Cloud Engineering, Security, SRE, and Enterprise Architecture teams.
• Set architecture standards, mentor engineers, and influence vendors.

As a global leader accelerates its cloud transformation, we are seeking a Chief Network Architect to serve as the senior technical authority for a worldwide network. This highly visible, hands‑on individual contributor role will define the architecture for a modern, resilient, software‑defined network platform. The platform spans AWS, other public clouds, and on‑premise data centers.

Inspired by hyperscale providers such as AWS, we want networks where resilience is engineered into the platform from the start. One example is AWS's move from tree‑based data center networks to flat, random‑graph‑based designs. These designs spread traffic across hundreds of paths and were proven through modeling and simulation before being built. AWS reports about 33% faster data movement, roughly 40% lower network power use, and fewer points of failure. We are looking for an architect who brings this first‑principles, evidence‑driven thinking to enterprise networking.

• Define the global network architecture and technical roadmap aligned with business objectives.
• Architect the move from legacy hardware‑centric infrastructure to software‑defined and cloud‑native networking.
• Evaluate modern alternatives to hierarchical designs, including flat fabrics and multipath routing, to remove bottlenecks and single points of failure.
• Design, prototype, and drive adoption of infrastructure‑as‑code, network automation, automated testing, and continuous deployment.
• Establish patterns for safe, rapid change through automated validation, canary deployments, and progressive rollouts.
• Design self‑healing, fault‑tolerant architectures using fault‑domain isolation, intelligent path selection, and resilience engineering.
• Validate designs through modeling, large‑scale simulation, failure testing, and digital twin technologies before production.
• Own the end‑to‑end architecture across AWS, public and private cloud, data centers, and global connectivity.
• Partner with Cloud Engineering, Security, SRE, Application Development, and Enterprise Architecture teams.
• Set architecture standards and reference designs, and mentor engineers and architects through design reviews and hands‑on guidance.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and research, and influence direction with strategic vendors.

• 15+ years in enterprise networking, network architecture, or cloud platform engineering.
• Experience architecting large‑scale global networks for mission‑critical environments.
• Extensive hands‑on expertise with AWS networking, hybrid cloud, routing, switching, WAN, SD‑WAN, and data center networking.
• Strong knowledge of data center fabric design (leaf‑spine and Clos topologies, ECMP and multipath routing), plus familiarity with emerging flat and random‑graph architectures.
• Strong background in software‑defined networking, infrastructure‑as‑code, automation frameworks, and deployment pipelines.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, graph theory and routing fundamentals, traffic engineering, and fault tolerance.
• Experience using simulation, telemetry, and observability to validate designs and improve outcomes.
• Proven ability to influence senior leaders and engineering teams without direct management authority.
