As a Fresno Transfer Driver, you will be responsible for transporting our quality food products from Sacramento to Fresno, and making a few stops along the way. This role involves no over-the-road work, allowing you to be home daily while contributing to our mission of providing top-quality food products to our community.

Primary Purpose

The Commercial Driver delivers produce and other products to General Produce customers. This is a domicile position based out of Fresno, transferring a load from Sacramento to Fresno and making a few deliveries in surrounding areas.

Prerequisite

Ability to pass a Department of Defense (DOD) background check to access military bases.

Schedule

Night shift starting at 6:30 pm daily. Off: Saturday and Monday.

Essential Functions

• Provide extraordinary customer service by exceeding customer expectations.
• Check, verify, and quantify product to customer invoice and deliver merchandise accurately, safely, and efficiently.
• Collect money from customers, make change, and record transactions.
• Place and rotate stock per customer request.
• Collect or pick up empty containers or rejected or unsold merchandise.
• Complete credit/debit forms as necessary.
• Record sales or delivery information on daily sales or delivery record.
• Communicate with the office to resolve service complaints.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Clean inside of truck.
• Perform routine maintenance on truck, such as adjusting mirrors, cleaning windshields, changing bulbs.
• Conduct routine safety inspections of the vehicle.
• Operate delivery trucks safely, conforming to DOT, CHP, and CVC regulations.
• May pick up produce at produce houses, packing sheds, and warehouses for backhaul to warehouse.
• Report regularly to supervisor.

Additional Functions

• Learn and utilize all office policies and procedures.
• Comply with all safety and security regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Valid California Class A Commercial Driver License with air brake endorsement.
• Driving record must conform to company policy and show no DUIs.
• Must comply with DOT regulations.
• Basic English skills (reading, writing, speaking).
• Customer service skills.
• Ability to read maps.
• Basic technological proficiency to operate cell phones.
• Ability to perform primary functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Licenses

Maintain a valid CA commercial driver license with air brake endorsement; DMV record must meet company policy.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or equivalent and/or one year of commercial truck driving experience. Experience in the produce industry or food distribution is preferred.
