Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in Michigan is seeking a Customer Service Associate in the Produce department to help create an outstanding shopper experience. You will assist customers, answer questions about products, prepare platters, label and stock items, and ensure freshness and safe handling of all produce.

Support the department manager in achieving sales goals, monitor quality assurance standards, promote corporate brands, and maintain a clean, welcoming store environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Current food handlers permit once employed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with produce platters/trays

• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory merchandise
• Review/inspect products for quality and freshness
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise
• Report discrepancies to the department manager
• Display a positive attitude
• Stay current with ads
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notify management
• Notify management of accidents
• Report safety risks or illegal activity to store management
• Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment
• Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information
• Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults
