Job summary

Adams Hometown Markets in West Warwick, RI is seeking a part-time Produce Clerk to maintain fresh, high-quality fruits and vegetables. You will assist customers, rotate stock, and ensure proper pricing and labeling while keeping the department clean and organized.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and teamwork skills, be able to lift up to 85 pounds, and be available Sundays and Wednesdays with a maximum 29 hours per week. Experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Zero to one year produce/grocery experience preferred.
• Knowledge of different fruits and vegetables, seasonality and storage.
• Availability to work Sundays and Wednesdays, up to 29 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Arrange and display fruits and vegetables in an appealing and organized manner based on store plan.
• Rotate products to ensure the older items are sold before the new ones (First in, First Out).
• Inspect incoming shipments of produce for quality and freshness.
• Remove any damaged or expired items to maintain high quality.
• Maintain quality standards of product throughout shift and keep area damage-free.
• Monitor inventory levels and restock areas as needed.
• Assist customers in location and selection of fresh produce and provide information on fruits and vegetables.
• Answer customer inquiries and address any concerns related to the department.
• Keep the produce department clean and sanitized including bins and shelves.
• Ensure accurate pricing and labeling of all items and update price tags as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
• Ability to work in varying temperature-controlled environments.
