Responsibilities include promoting produce specials, stocking and labeling merchandise, and ensuring product quality and freshness. A strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and excellent customer interactions is essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Current food handlers permit once employed.
• Comparable Retail experience.
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing).

• Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals for the department.
• Monitor all established quality assurance standards.

• Assist with the preparation produce platters/trays.
• Inform customers of produce specials.
• Recommend items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory merchandise.
• Review/inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude and stay current with ads and promotions.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions and notifying management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store management of repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report safety risks or issues.
