Description

The Lawrenceville School announces an opening for a French and Spanish teacher. We seek an enthusiastic, collegial individual eager to collaborate with motivated faculty and students in a diverse, inclusive boarding school environment. The Language Department aims to develop students' understanding of other cultures through language learning.

Typical responsibilities include:
  • Teaching four sections or two to three preps per trimester.
  • Coaching or engaging in co-curricular activities for two seasons, including at least one interscholastic coaching season.
  • Advising five to eight students and participating in weekly 'House duty' supervision from 7-11:30 pm.
  • Chaperoning weekend activities such as dances or coffee houses once or twice per term.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in French, Spanish, or Romance Languages with the ability to teach both languages.
  • Capability to teach all levels, from introductory to honors (college-level).
  • Experience in planning and facilitating student-centered, collaborative classes.
  • Minimum of two years of high school teaching experience.
  • Passion for teaching French and Spanish and working with high school students.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently as needed.
  • Experience incorporating technology in language instruction, including language labs.
  • Proficiency with computer skills, including Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
