Job description

This is a part-time faculty pool for available assignments for applied lessons as a French horn instructor. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on department need.   • Teaches classes as assigned, following current approved course outlines
  • Meets during scheduled class times
  • Prepares and develops materials for assigned classes/labs according to program expectations

  • Delivers course content using appropriate methods for student needs and program curriculum

Minimum Qualifications

A Masters degree in French Horn from an accredited institution
--OR--
A Masters degree in Music with an emphasis in French Horn from an accredited institution
--OR--
Equivalent experience defined as more than five years of paid professional experience in the field of music as a French Horn instructor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience Teaching Private French Horn Lessons
  • Experience Teaching French Horn Lessons at the College Level
  • Experience Teaching Music Courses at a Community College

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
  • This position belongs to the non-bargaining unit and begins at Step 1. Please refer to current salary schedules here for more information.
  • All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
  • Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire
  • Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment.
  • Recently hired faculty are expected to participate in a new faculty orientation program

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary requirements are met.
