Qualifications

  • Requires an Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • AMT registration and AAMA certification are preferred.
  • Six months to one year of related experience and/or training may be acceptable in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit and prepare the patient for a physical exam.
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and timely.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments per approved procedures.
  • Draw blood and prepare labs for reference or in-house processing.
  • Perform laboratory tests and quality controls according to instructions.
  • Respond to lab messages and call-back requests.
  • Perform drug screening procedures per rules and regulations.
  • Ensure immunizations are documented and administered correctly.
  • Coordinate physician referrals and pre-certifications as needed.
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments and supplies.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
  • Handle other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
