Job summary

Jobtailor in Jersey City, NJ seeks qualified freight train conductors to safely move freight trains and ensure FRA compliance. You will build trains, couple railcars, inspect equipment, and document operations while coordinating with crews and dispatchers.

Applicants should have a valid driver's license, be 18+, pass FRA drug screening, and be able to work long shifts, outdoors in all weather. Experience with heavy equipment is preferred and relocation not required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to report to work within 90 minutes.
• Clean driving record in the past 36 months.
• Must pass pre-employment FRA drug and alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

• Conduct freight trains safely and efficiently.
• Build trains by coupling railcars and deliver railcars to customers.
• Transport trains over long distances and manage electronic documentation and inspections.
• Troubleshoot train issues and report incidents.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Build and inspect trains, railcars, and equipment for safe operation.
• Operate remote control locomotives and perform tasks such as coupling, aligning drawbars, applying hand brakes, and riding railcars.
