Job summary

HDR is seeking a Freight Rail Intern in the United States (Missouri, Kansas City area) to gain real-world experience on track and supporting facilities design for freight railroad clients. You will work under supervision of a senior engineer to check drawings, prepare material lists, and quantify quantities, while connecting with graduates and leaders through mentoring programs.

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Gain real-world engineering experience on railroad design projects.
• Assist in checking drawings and calculations, developing material lists, and calculating quantities.
• Participate in mentoring programs with engineers and leaders.
• Travel and/or field work within the U.S. may be required.
