This onsite, second-shift position requires a high school diploma and 2–3 years in freight operations or inspections.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with PCs: email, spreadsheets, databases; AS/400 experience preferred.
• Advanced math, data interpretation, and reporting abilities.

• Experience collaborating across operations, management, and customer teams.

Responsibilities

• Execute shipment inspection and revenue capture; enter changes from inspections.
• Classify freight correctly, apply tariffs, and ensure accurate revenue recovery.
• Partner with dock ops to improve load quality and service reliability.
• Calibrate and use inspection tools; escalate safety or maintenance concerns.
• Communicate findings to operations, sales, and revenue teams; drive improvements.

The Weights & Inspections function sits at the intersection of revenue integrity, operational precision, and customer trust. This role exists to ensure that every shipment moving through the network is accurately classified, properly documented, and compliant with tariff and safety standards—while also identifying missed revenue opportunities.As freight complexity increases and customer expectations rise, the business depends on disciplined inspection processes to protect margins, maintain service quality, and uphold operational standards. The Freight Quality Inspector plays a direct role in strengthening accuracy across the network, reducing rework, and providing actionable feedback to operations, sales, and terminal leadership.Success in this role means driving measurable improvements in shipment accuracy, minimizing revenue leakage, and elevating the consistency of freight handling across the facility.What you’ll do1. Execute shipment inspection and revenue captureInspect inbound and outbound shipments to identify reweigh, reclass, and revenue recovery opportunitiesAccurately enter shipment changes based on physical inspections and dimensioning systemsEnsure proper freight classification, density calculations, and tariff applicationMaintain strict adherence to inspection standards to protect revenue integrity2. Elevate operational quality and consistencyConduct quality inspections on loaded freight to ensure secure, compliant, and damage-free movementPartner with dock operations to improve load quality and reduce service failuresIdentify recurring issues and drive corrective actions with terminal teamsParticipate in daily pre-shift and service center meetings to reinforce expectations3. Maintain equipment and facility standardsInspect weights & inspections equipment, dock tools, and overall facility conditionsEscalate maintenance or safety concerns proactively to minimize downtime and riskEnsure all inspection tools are calibrated, functional, and used correctlySupport a safe, organized, and performance-driven work environment4.
