Responsibilities

• Pickup & Delivery Driving: Safely operate Class A or B trucks or tractor-trailers on local routes; conduct pre- and post-trip inspections per DOT regulations; interact professionally with customers; manage shipping documents; use handheld scanners; secure freight; adhere to all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety protocols.
• Dock Operations: Load and unload freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment; sort, segregate, and stage freight; verify piece counts and check for damage; operate dock equipment safely; maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; assist with weighing and dimensioning freight.
• Hostling (Yard Jockey): Operate yard truck to reposition trailers; spot trailers for loading/unloading; perform inspections on yard equipment; coordinate trailer movements with dispatchers and dock personnel; conduct yard checks; ensure proper chocking and brake application; maintain awareness of pedestrian and vehicle traffic; assist in managing trailer flow during peak times.
• General Duties: Assist with terminal upkeep; participate in safety meetings and training; communicate with dispatch, supervisors, and team members; perform additional duties as assigned by management (e.g., yard checks, minor equipment maintenance).

Required Qualifications

• Valid CDL (Class A or B, depending on equipment used)
• Clean driving record meeting DOT standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Forklift certification

Physical Demands

• Lift, push, pull, and carry freight up to 75 lbs; occasionally heavier items with assistance.
• Sit for extended periods while driving; stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach, and climb during dock work and deliveries.
• Climb in and out of tractors and trailers repeatedly.
• Work in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain) both indoors and outdoors.
• Good hearing and vision (meeting DOT requirements).

Work Environment

• Fast-paced LTL terminal environment.
• Exposure to noise, vibrations, dust, diesel fumes, and outdoor weather conditions.
• Operation of heavy machinery (trucks, forklifts).
