Job Summary

Warehouse position with a set schedule, benefits, and competitive pay. You will load and unload freight from trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand cart, and operate safety-sensitive equipment efficiently. This role is a 50/50 mix of warehouse and yard duties and includes driving a straight truck or tractor-trailer combination.

Essential Job Duties

• Safely load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, and/or hand cart.
• Use handheld scanners to track and document freight.
• Identify, sticker, and stage inbound freight.
• Verify the condition of freight to meet quality standards.
• Drive a straight truck or tractor-trailer combination safely.
• Hook and unhook commercial combinations, lower and raise landing gear, operate fifth wheel levers, lock and release pintle-hooks, attach and release safety chains, open and close cargo doors, climb in and out of vehicles.
• Fuel trucks and check oil/coolant levels.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Maintain driving records required by state and federal regulations.
• Determine optimal loading to minimize damage and maximize trailer capacity; secure cargo to avoid damage.
• Clean and maintain interior and exterior of vehicles per company standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Can frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Can occasionally lift or move up to 90 pounds.
• At least 6 months of verifiable forklift experience.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Physical Demands

• Perform frequent squatting and crouching to handle freight.
• Maneuver freight or pallets weighing up to 2,500 pounds onto a dolly or cart using up to 130 pounds of force.
• Carry freight weighing up to 40 pounds for up to 20 feet.
• Load and unload full trailers of freight weighing up to 45,000 pounds with mechanical aid.
• Open and close cargo doors; climb into and out of vehicles.
• Enter and exit the cab of a commercial vehicle, often at a height of 36-66 inches, using steps and handholds.
