Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading and unloading.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Handle freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
2. Verify freight documentation for accuracy, including type, weight, and hazardous materials.
3. Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or ropes.
4. Recoup or repair damaged freight as needed.
5. Complete required documentation and reports accurately.
6. Assist customers with freight and documentation when necessary.
7. Perform hostling duties if required.
8. Follow all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
9. Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
2. Must be at least 18 years old.
3. Experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operation preferred.
4. Experience with hostler/yard mule operations preferred.
5. Basic math skills, with or without a calculator.
6. Good written and verbal communication skills.
7. Ability to lift and carry freight, including trailer doors and dock plates.
8. Physical ability to bend, twist, squat, and push or pull freight.
9. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
10. Previous dock or warehouse experience preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Dock environment with exposure to weather, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise. Hours may vary based on operational needs. Frequent contact with personnel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.

Shift Time: 0400 - 1000

Starting Rate of Pay: $20.54/hour
