Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across dock areas to and from trailers, using forklifts and hand trucks.

You will verify freight documentation, secure loads inside trailers, and assist customers with freight and documentation in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and work with varied weather conditions.

Starting rate of pay is $21.16 per hour, with shifts in a dock setting. FedEx Freight is an equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• Experience with hostler/yard mule duties preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to lift/carry up to 100 pounds and open trailer doors requiring ~75 pounds lift, multiple times daily.
• Able to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to: forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.

• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Dock environment; exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, noise.
• Hours may vary due to operational need.
• Frequent contact with service center personnel; fast-paced, deadline oriented.
