Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking personnel to transport freight across dock areas and assist with loading/unloading to trailers. The role involves operating forklifts and manual equipment, verifying freight documentation, and ensuring secure placement within trailers.

Qualified applicants typically have a high school diploma, basic math and communication skills, and warehousing or dock experience. Willingness to perform hostling and comply with safety policies is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Experience in warehousing or freight handling and/or forklift operations preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry freight and open trailer doors with substantial lift.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazardous materials).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws/regulations and company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
