Job summary

Saia is seeking a forklift-equipped handler to sort and move freight in and out of over-the-road equipment, containers, city trailers, and straight trucks. You will load and unload freight using forklifts and pallet jacks, while maintaining safety and accuracy in all tasks.

Typical duties include verifying shipments, securing loads, and following quality control procedures to ensure timely, cost-efficient deliveries. The role may require odd hours including nights and weekends based on demand.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must read, write and comprehend English to perform duties and complete documents.

Responsibilities

• Loads and unloads trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks and other equipment in compliance with regulations.
• Operates dock tools to secure freight and manage straps, bars and dunnage.
• Loads, recoups, rewraps and stacks freight as needed.
• Verifies shipments by reading labels and securing freight for loading/unloading trailers.
• Follows bill and quality control procedures to ensure timely, claims-free shipments.
• Logs and reports any shortages or damages to freight.
• Promotes a safe and clean work environment.
