Summary

The Freight Coordinator position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” Additionally, the Freight Coordinator performs a variety of operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., receiving and unpacking daily shipments, shipping merchandise, backroom maintenance, and routine cleaning of facilities).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sales Generation and Guest Service

  • Verify merchandise invoices against received items to ensure shipment accuracy
  • Coordinate alterations, layaways, or special orders with Guests via FedEx
  • Check accuracy of freight packing slips and transfer slips
  • Ensure all transfers are processed correctly through the register and match shipped items
  • Properly fold and box items for shipping, ensuring good presentation upon unpacking
  • Remove pins and plastic from shipped merchandise
  • Attach Sensormatic tags to garments in designated areas
  • Hang, fold, and steam merchandise for the sales floor as needed
  • Assist with floor projects when necessary

Operations

  • Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday periods, based on store needs
  • Develop proficiency in Point of Sale (POS) software
  • Receive freight and store transfers through the register
  • Handle store mail discrepancies and maintain related documentation for 30 days
  • Maintain shipment-related paperwork
  • Identify security risks and thefts, and respond appropriately
  • Create FedEx labels and sort packages by transit time
  • Process recalls and Return to Vendors (RTVs) weekly
  • Keep supplies organized and in stock
  • Organize fixtures and shelving
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Keep daily work files in order
  • Report policy violations promptly and confidentially
  • Provide feedback on merchandise handling concerns to management
  • Adhere to Buckle’s Code of Ethics and policies
  • Perform job duties with high customer service standards, supporting a positive team environment
  • Undertake special projects and additional duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to stand, walk, handle objects, reach, climb, balance, jump, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and communicate. Occasionally sit. Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs. Vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Work environment is a retail store setting with moderate noise levels.
