Job summary

Newbury Franklin Industrials is seeking a Freight Associate to ensure safe, efficient movement of products in our warehouse. You will load, unload, store, and transport freight using forklifts, order pickers, pallet jacks, and related equipment, maintaining inventory accuracy and timely order processing.

The role supports daily warehouse activities, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and contributes to meeting department goals while upholding safety standards and best practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Warehouse or freight handling experience preferred.
  • Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload freight from trucks, containers, and other transportation vehicles.
  • Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks) following safety guidelines.
  • Receive, sort, stage, stack and organize freight for efficient storage and retrieval.
  • Inspect shipments for damage, verify quantities, ensure accurate documentation.
  • Assist with inventory control activities including cycle counts and reconciliations.
  • Prepare freight for shipment by packaging, labeling, and staging per requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment aligned with standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Perform additional warehouse and freight-handling duties as assigned.

Job Summary

As a Freight Associate, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of products throughout our warehouse. This hands‑on role involves loading, unloading, storing, and transporting freight using equipment such as forklifts, order pickers, electric pallet jacks, and hand pallet jacks. The Freight Associate is a critical part of our operations team, helping to maintain inventory accuracy, support daily warehouse activities, and ensure customer orders are processed and shipped in a timely manner.

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Load and unload freight from trucks, containers, and other transportation vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other warehouse equipment, while following all safety guidelines.
  • Receive, sort, stage, stack, and organize freight within designated warehouse locations to ensure efficient storage and retrieval.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for damage, verify quantities, and ensure all documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Assist with inventory control activities, including cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies.
  • Prepare freight for shipment by packaging, labeling, and staging products according to company and customer requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company standards and warehouse best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support workflow efficiency and achieve departmental goals.
  • Perform additional warehouse and freight‑handling duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Abilities
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift product using material handling equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Commitment to following safety policies and procedures.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Previous warehouse or freight handling experience preferred.
  • Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical work in a fast‑paced warehouse environment.
