Job summary

VersaDesk in the United States is seeking a detail-oriented Freight Analyst Intern to support our logistics operations. The role focuses on controlling transportation costs, auditing freight invoices, and preventing duplicate shipping charges.

You will review invoices, track performance, develop internal controls, and help improve routing and inventory accuracy while gaining hands-on experience with eCommerce fulfillment and carrier management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in IE, Supply Chain, Analytics, or Business.
• Experience in logistics, inventory control, operations, or analytics preferred.
• Experience with Amazon FBA / multi-warehouse operations.
• Knowledge of parcel, LTL, FTL, ecommerce fulfillment, and carrier management.
• Proficiency with Google Suite and advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, formulas, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data modeling).
• Proven freight bill audit, shipping cost analysis, and inventory management experience.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to perform in a fast-moving environment.
• Understanding of emerging supply chain technologies such as automation and AI tools preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review and audit freight invoices from carriers, warehouses, and 3PLs.
• Verify billing accuracy against rates, shipment records, and service agreements.
• Identify duplicate charges, billing errors, overcharges, and unauthorized fees.
• Analyze parcel, LTL, FTL, and fulfillment costs to identify savings opportunities.
• Track shipping performance, transit times, damages, and delivery exceptions.
• Ensure no duplicate shipments or unnecessary reshipments.
• Evaluate carrier performance and suggest routing improvements.
• Identify trends, root causes, and inefficiencies through data analysis.
• Develop SOPs and internal controls to improve logistics and inventory accuracy.

Duties and Responsibilities

Freight Bill Audit & Cost Control

• Review and audit freight invoices from carriers, warehouses, and third-party logistics providers.


• Verify billing accuracy against approved rates, shipment records, and service agreements.


• Identify duplicate freight charges, billing errors, overcharges, and unauthorized fees.


• Analyze parcel, LTL, FTL, and fulfillment shipping costs to identify savings opportunities.

Shipping Operations

• Track shipping performance, transit times, damages, and delivery exceptions.

Basic Requirements

• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to perform in a fast-moving environment.


• Understanding of emerging supply chain technologies such as automation, AI tools, and traceability systems preferred.
