Job summary

RLK-And-Company is seeking a skilled Freestyle Grooming Supervisor to assist with hiring, scheduling, and training of Freestyle Groomers at Timberline. You will operate snow cats, contribute to park layout, and lead grooming efforts under the Freestyle Operations Manager.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work weekends and long shifts in varying weather conditions. A valid driver’s license and DMV history are required.

Qualifications

  • Must be flexible with shifts, hours and scope of work.
  • Must abide by department standards, policies.
  • Must have experience in freestyle grooming and ski operations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must submit 5 year DMV Driving Record and be approved by Timberline driving standards.
  • Must have excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have excellent leadership and motivational skills.
  • Must have excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Must have computer skills including but not limited to Word documents, scheduling and data base programs.
  • Must have excellent mechanical aptitude, basic Snow-cat repair and upkeep.
  • Must be familiar with equipment essential to cat operation as listed in training manual.
  • Must be professional in words and actions.
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, days, swing and graveyard.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with hiring, scheduling, and training for Freestyle Groomers.
  • Manage department hours using Paylocity to reduce overtime.
  • Maintain awareness of weather conditions and adapt grooming operations accordingly.
  • Lead grooming operations and contribute to park layout and feature designs.
  • Direct and delegate projects among crew members.
  • Interpret daily feedback and plan nightly work.
  • Work with Freestyle Operations Manager on training programs.
  • Assist with events production as requested by Freestyle Operations Manager.
  • Provide feedback on vehicle performance to manufacturers.
  • Lead snow-farming efforts with the Freestyle Operations Manager.
  • Operate snow machines following safety protocols.
  • Coordinate fleet management with maintenance and Freestyle Operations Manager.
  • Foster a cooperative environment among grooming staff.
  • Oversee daily logs, checklists, fueling, and related paperwork.
  • Attend Manager/Supervisor trainings scheduled by HR.
  • Participate in Health & Safety program and promote safe practices.
  • Practice stewardship of RLK and Company facilities and resources.
  • Present a professional, quality image at all times.
  • Exercise sound judgment and appropriate language, behavior, and grooming.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Job description

Description

Assist with hiring, scheduling, and training for Freestyle Groomers. Work with Terrain Park Crew on layout and feature designs. Foster a cooperative team with grooming employees. Operate all Piston Bully snow-cats and all other snow vehicles operated by RLK and Company.

This position starts once the snow flies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in hiring, scheduling, and training for Freestyle Groomers.
  • Manage department hours using Paylocity to reduce overtime.
  • Maintain awareness of upcoming weather conditions and anticipate strategies to maintain quality of grooming product and daily operations of department.
  • Active member of Freestyle Team and contributes in park layout and feature designs.
  • Share, direct and delegate projects with crew members.
  • Interpret daily feedback from Terrain Park Crew and create nightly work plan.
  • Work with the Freestyle Operations Manager for developing training programs specific to the Freestyle Grooming department.
  • Assist with special events production per request of the Freestyle Operations Manager.
  • Assist Equipment manufacturers with vehicle performance feedback. Gather data and cataloguing of vehicle performance and efficiency programs.
  • Actively lead snow-farming efforts in collaboration with the Freestyle Operations Manager.
  • Operate snow machines according to operating manual and Timberline safety protocols/policies in all conditions within the ski area.
  • Fleet Management in collaboration with vehicle maintenance and Freestyle Operations Manager.
  • Foster a cooperative working environment with all grooming employees.
  • Oversee completion of daily logs, check lists, fueling and additional paperwork as required.
  • Attend all Manager/Supervisor training scheduled by HR.
  • Actively participate in RLK and Company’s Health & Safety Program by identifying and reporting potential hazards, reporting incidents, and promoting a healthy workplace
  • Exercise stewardship of all RLK and Company facilities and environments, ensuring that efforts are made to reduce, reuse, and recycle when the opportunity is present.
  • Present a professional, quality image at all times.
  • Exercising sound judgment and awareness regarding language, behavior, and dress and grooming.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to ski or snowboard all groomed runs.
  • Must be able to work in snow, icy, uneven and slippery conditions.
  • Must be able to work in extreme conditions such as but not limited to sun, cold, wind, rain.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 lbs.
  • Must have safety conscious attitude.
  • Must be able to work long hours and maintain high energy level.
