Job summary

WorkGenius Group is seeking a Freelance Womenswear Designer – All Categories in New York, NY. Lead end-to-end design across concept to delivery, collaborating with cross-functional teams to build cohesive collections.

You will conduct market research, develop seasonal trend presentations, and initiate denim concepts while ensuring brand identity, fit, and quality. Strong communication and deadline management are essential.

Qualifications

• 6–8 years of relevant fashion design experience, preferably in womenswear and denim.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and NedGraphics.
• Strong communication, presentation, organizational, and deadline-management skills.
• Strong merchandising and conceptual design expertise, including color, graphics, print, and overall design aesthetic.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design process across concept, color, washes, treatments, trims, graphics, prints, patterns, silhouettes, and final product execution.
• Collaborate with fashion design partners, print and graphics teams, technical teams, production teams, sample rooms, and local vendors to develop cohesive, high-quality collections.
• Conduct market research, competitive analysis, benchmarking, and local market shopping to identify current trends in color, fabric, trim, silhouette, graphics, and prints.
• Develop seasonal trend presentations, including mood boards, theme direction, creative sample rigging, and other presentation materials in partnership with design and merchandising leadership.
• Initiate new denim concepts and categories, follow up on fabric and trim orders, and ensure products meet brand identity, fit, quality, and delivery requirements.
