Job summary

Fourth Floor in New York City is seeking a freelance Patternmaker to join our elevated women’s brand. You will finalize basic blocks for silhouettes, create graded measurements, and collaborate with product designers to translate sketches into patterns.

You will use computer drafting and freehand techniques to draft patterns, measure and cut fabric, and ensure accuracy before sending patterns for manufacturing checks. Weekly updates to managers are required, with pattern grading for future sizes.

Qualifications

• 10-12 years patternmaking experience.

Responsibilities

• Meet with product designers to discuss base design.
• Create patterns using computer drafting software and freehand techniques.
• Measuring, cutting, and designing patterns in the material required.
• Double-checking the pattern dimensions and style.
• Sending the initial pattern for a manufacturing check.
• Meeting with designers to review the final product.
• Tweaking the pattern and filing the design.
• Weekly reporting to managers.
• Grading the pattern for future sizes.
