Job summary

Village Properties seeks an experienced freelance/contract videographer to collaborate with our Marketing Team on an ongoing basis, producing elevated, social-first video content that showcases our properties, agents, neighborhoods, and our brand.

You will manage the full production process from planning to delivery, bring creative ideas to the table, and travel to on-site shoots around the Santa Barbara area while maintaining a strong eye for lighting, sound, and storytelling.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in professional videography and video production.

Village Properties is seeking an experienced Freelance / Contract Videographer to collaborate with our in-house Marketing Team on an ongoing basis.

We are looking for a talented, professional, and personable videographer who can help us produce elevated, engaging video content that showcases our properties, agents, neighborhoods, and the Village Properties brand.

This is a freelance/contract position with no required in-office schedule. The role will primarily involve on-site production, with occasional in-office meetings for creative brainstorming, planning, and alignment with the Marketing Team.

We are looking for someone who is highly organized, self-motivated, communicative, and comfortable managing their own production schedule from shoot through final delivery.

About the Role

The primary focus of this position is producing professional, social-first video content for Village Properties and our agents. Content may include property videos, neighborhood features, agent Q&As, interviews, lifestyle content, and other creative concepts developed in collaboration with our Marketing Team.

We are looking for someone who can not only execute a creative vision but also bring ideas to the table, consult on production, and help us continue to elevate the quality and consistency of our video content.

The ideal candidate is technically confident, creatively minded, and personable—someone who understands how to make people feel comfortable on camera while also having a strong eye for composition, lighting, sound, and storytelling.

What You'll Do

Video Production

• Produce professional video content for Village Properties and our agents
• Film real estate properties, neighborhoods, local businesses, lifestyle content, and community features
• Produce agent Q&A, interview, and talking-head style content
• Capture social-first video content including Reels and other short-form formats
• Handle lighting, audio, camera operation, and on-location production
• Edit and deliver polished, brand-aligned final videos
• Manage the full production process from planning and filming through editing and delivery
• Occasionally capture still photography or additional visual assets as needed
• Work closely with the Marketing Director and Marketing Team on creative concepts and content direction
• Participate in occasional in-office creative meetings, brainstorming sessions, and content planning
• Take creative direction well while also contributing your own ideas and expertise
• Help develop concepts that feel fresh, engaging, and aligned with the Village Properties brand
• Consult with the Marketing Team on video production needs, equipment, lighting, sound, and overall production quality
• Provide input on the design and setup of an eventual in-house video studio, including equipment, lighting, sound, and technical considerations

Organization & Communication

• Maintain a clear production calendar and communicate availability and scheduling in advance
• Coordinate on-site shoots and manage production timelines independently
• Keep project files, footage, and final assets organized
• Communicate clearly and consistently with the Marketing Team throughout the production process
• Meet agreed-upon deadlines and deliverables
• Be dependable, responsive, and proactive when managing projects

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in professional videography and video production
• Strong understanding of lighting, composition, camera operation, and sound
• Proficiency with professional video editing software such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar
• Experience creating short-form social media content
• Real estate, architecture, hospitality, lifestyle, or branded content experience is highly valued
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to make clients and agents feel comfortable on camera
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Self-motivated and able to independently manage projects and deadlines
• Comfortable taking direction while also bringing creative ideas and solutions
• Technically knowledgeable and able to advise on equipment, lighting, audio, and production setup
• Professional demeanor and reliable follow-through
• Willingness and ability to travel to various on-site locations throughout the Santa Barbara area

Compensation & Structure

This is a freelance/contract position, and we are open to structuring the engagement in a way that works well for both parties.

Compensation may be structured as:

• Per-video/project: approximately $350–$550 per completed video, depending on experience, production requirements, and complexity
• Weekly or monthly retainer: based on an agreed-upon volume of content
• Other project-based arrangements: depending on the scope and needs of the work

Our anticipated content needs may average approximately one video per week, but the exact volume and schedule are flexible and will be determined collaboratively based on upcoming projects and the videographer's availability.

There is no set in-office schedule. On-site production will be required for shoots, with occasional in-office meetings for creative planning and alignment with the Marketing Team.
