A brief summary
We're looking for a freelance Broadcast Multi-Skilled Operator (Audio Operator and Jr. Comms Engineer) to join our Gravity Media Team onsite at Riot Games' Remote BroadcastCenterin the Greater Seattle Area. This role will collaborate with and take guidance from our Audio Team and Engineering Team to support live esports broadcasts for our client, including League of Legends and VALORANT championships and tournaments.
The ideal candidate will need to be a clear and confident communicator, able to adapt quickly to on-air changes and remain calm under pressure.
What you’llbe responsible for
- Building of sources through the internal router software and desk.
- Creating show assets workflows to aid a more efficient broadcast.
- Operatingoff ofaudio calls in a timely and 'live' setting.
- QC audio levels and keep within loudness audio standards.
- Work closely with other departments - GFX, EVS etc to ensure any replay packages have the correct audio levels etc.
- Monitor more than one feed/broadcast at a time to ensure our level is compliant.
- Compliance with audio copyrights to ensure no commercial track strikes on streaming platforms.
- Troubleshooting audio related issues and micro adjusting audio levels.
- Supply various mixes for other departments/feeds/sponsors etc.
- Reviewing audio of packages/recaps for the next day.
- Refine next day workflows from team and Producer/Director feedback.
- Load and prep for next day's broadcast.
- Creating post show documentation highlighting any tasks or issues from Audio.
- Update and maintain all SOPs and contribute to new SOPs and the sharing of business/skill knowledge.
- Imparting skill and knowledge to co-workers and colleagues.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
- Determine methods and procedures on new work efforts for you / your wider team / region and operate with initiative.
- Refine next day workflows from team and Producer/Director feedback.
- Load and prep for next day's broadcast.
- Creating post show documentation highlighting any tasks or issues.
- Update and maintain all SOPs and contribute to new SOPs and the sharing ofbusiness/skill knowledge.
- Maintain control, efficiency, and visibility over the technology, its maintenance, and serve as a point of escalation for the on-site team to analyse, troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
- Coordinate production activities with the other technical centers.
- Work with the audio, engineering, and IT teams to create better in-house systems for intercom services, monitoring and enhancing quality of service metrics.
- Imparting skill and knowledge to co-workers and colleagues.

Required Qualifications
- Experience in mixing medium to large scale events.
- Experience and working knowledge of Calrec and Riedel systems.
- Working knowledge of live video content production workflows and related technologies.
- Working knowledge of network engineering, with emphasis on AoIP systems.
- Working knowledge of audio editing software, such as Ableton Live.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal skills- ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both spoken and written forms.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Logical thinking with good problem-solving and fault-finding skills in diverse systems.
- The ability to work under pressure in a live environment and within program requirements.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and overnight.
- The ability to operate a keyboard, view a video display terminal screen, and ability to use communication equipment.
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of AoIP, SMPTE 2110 or AES67.
- Understanding of structured cable systems and cable patching and routing.
