Job description

We are looking for a skilled and dependable Audio Technician to support live productions, broadcasts, and special events in a fast-paced arena environment. This part-time role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, thrives under live-event pressure, and takes pride in delivering clear, professional audio experiences for fans, clients, media partners, performers, and internal teams.

In this role, you will mix, install, troubleshoot, and support in-house analog and network audio systems while working alongside broadcast, production, event, and operations teams. The ideal candidate brings strong live sound experience, a customer-service mindset, and the ability to stay calm, focused, and solutions-oriented when the show is live.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to the items on this list.

  • Partner with HEAT Group departments to support audio-visual needs for meetings, live events, press conferences, presentations, and special productions.
  • PowerPoint presentations, audio and videoconferences.
  • Operation of audio-visual equipment during events with the aim to provide high quality visual presentation standards
  • Positioning, installation and operation of equipment within all event areas.
  • Perform all necessary pre-event checks as required for the event.
  • Cooperate with specialized production agencies and visiting media companies in the provision of events and broadcasts.
  • Set up & support press conferences
  • Manage, operate, and troubleshoot arena production equipment and installations with professionalism, technical confidence, and attention to detail.
  • Serve as a technical liaison for tenants, event promoters, touring personnel, media partners, and internal teams to help ensure A/V and broadcast systems perform at a high level.
  • Work in a highly visible live-event environment supporting executives, clients, performers, media, staff, and guests with professional event services.
  • Assist with pre-event planning, resource coordination, technical briefings, live-event execution, and post-event wrap-up.
  • Assist with installation, testing, and termination of broadcast, IT, and audio cabling, including Cat6 Ethernet, coax, single-mode fiber, balanced audio, and related infrastructure.
  • Support and mentor Broadcast Services personnel while serving as a lead A/V technician for remote productions when needed.
  • Assists in maintaining and managing Arena’s audio systems. Assist with maintaining audio equipment inventory.
  • Set up and break down audio equipment including microphones, sound speakers, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing board, and related electronic systems for concerts, sporting events, meetings, conventions, presentations, and news conferences.
  • Operate Arena Sound Control Booth. Operate control consoles for sound; Mixes, monitors, adjusts and enhances sound quality.
  • Collaborate with all positions in a live production control room
  • Diagnose and resolve audio system problems; Resolve technical issues when they arise

What We’re Looking For
  • A team-oriented technician with strong communication skills, a positive attitude, solid organization, good time management, and close attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with all arena personnel and external clients.
  • Advanced technical experience in live sound reinforcement, electrical fundamentals, production support, and stage/event operations.
  • Ability to work independently, complete tasks with minimal supervision, and remain accountable in a live-event environment.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required. A degree in audio, sound engineering, broadcast production, or a related field is a plus; an associate degree, four-year degree, or relevant certification is preferred.
  • Technical expertise in sound engineering techniques (e.g. feedback equalization, patching, routing, digital plugins)
  • Experience with live event sound production including mixing, hard-wired and wireless microphone setup, and PA system operation
  • Experience with audio signal distribution and mixing systems
  • Experience with audio-over-IP workflows, including Dante protocols and related software.
  • Familiarity with systems such as Clear-Com, Yamaha, PreSonus, Shure, Lake Controller, Dante, and similar professional audio tools.
  • Experience with sound editing and recording equipment.
  • Installation experience with audio and video equipment is a plus
  • Understanding of acoustics and sound transmission
  • Must have a basic understanding of electrical wiring and flow
  • Programming skills, preferred
  • Creative thinking and attention to detail
  • A quick study of tasks presented
  • Able to prioritize tasks and needs that arise
  • Troubleshooting in a stressful environment when necessary
  • Professionalism regarding working with entities from internal departments, service providers, and show personnel
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment with ability to multi-task and collaborate
