Job summary

WorkGenius Group in New York is seeking a Freelance Associate Designer to support the apparel and fashion team on seasonal collaborations and licensed products. You will act as liaison among design, client, vendors, and overseas factories; create tech packs; assist with color palettes, prints, silhouettes, and sample management.

A Bachelor’s in Fashion Design and 1–3 years of experience are preferred. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is required; PLM knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison among the design team, our client, third-party vendors, licensing teams, and overseas factories, ensuring clear communication and accurate execution of design intent.
• Support seasonal collaborative and licensed apparel development, including concepts, color palettes, prints, silhouettes, fabric and trim selections, technical sketches, and presentations.
• Create and maintain accurate tech packs, including measurements, construction details, bills of materials (BOMs), fit comments, and design updates.
• Coordinate sample submissions, lab dips, fit sessions, approvals, revisions, and sample archives while tracking milestones and deadlines.
• Collaborate with Merchandising, Technical Design, Production, and Sourcing to maintain alignment with brand standards, line plans, costing, calendars, and launch requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field preferred, with 1–3 years of apparel design or product development experience, including internships; apparel industry experience required.
• Portfolio required; experience with collaborations, licensed products, or third-party vendors strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; PLM experience is a plus. Working knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, fit, technical packages, and product development required.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and external communications in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
• Basic hands-on experience with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or Vizcom for ideation, concept development, and design visualization; ability to attend fittings and transport garment samples as needed.
