Title: DLI Aide (Dual Language Immersion - Spanish; 1st Grade)

Location: Freedom Elementary

Calendar/Contract: 180 Days

Salary Schedule: Lane 4(B) of the Educational Support Paraprofessionals Salary Schedule

Hours: 5.0hours/day (M, Tu, Th, F) | 20.0 hours/week

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

This position is funded, in full or in part, through grant allocations or student enrollment-based funding sources. Continued employment (or the position’s hourly workload) is contingent upon the availability of future funding, as determined on yearly basis. This temporary position is funded for the 2026-2027 school year.

Purpose Statement:

Under the direction of the Student Educational Access & Opportunity Department, the school Principal, the Dual Language Immersion teacher, and the District DLI Team, the aide will support the implementation of the DLI curriculum by working with students individually and in small groups as well as assist the teacher throughout the daily lessons, as needed.

Essential Functions

• Provides instruction to individuals or small groups.
• Supports instruction and learning activities.
• Participates in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.
• Assures student understanding of content/material being taught; answers student questions; assists student in reviewing assignments and test results.
• Speaks in the target language during instructional time.
• Attendance is an Essential Function of this Position : Physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. The role requires in-person collaboration, direct interaction with team members, other staff, students, and/or guardians, and access to on-site equipment and resources.

Other Functions

• Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities)

• Fluency in the Spanish language
• Documentation of proficiency in the Spanish language
• Must able to communicate fluently in Spanish

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Job related experience, preferred

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements (including, but not limited to, the following)

• Must observe student confidentiality.
• Must be discrete in responding to student behavior and educational needs whenever possible.
• Will assist and guide students by providing appropriate role modeling, emotional support, patience, and a friendly and engaging attitude.
• Must communicate with students in Spanish and support Spanish language development to facilitate instructional processes.
• Must be able to travel to different work locations, if required.
• Must be able to:
• Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• Move about inside and outside the school to assist students
• Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, computer, computer printer.
• Constantly positions self to maintain files, students, or objects.
• Have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
